Christian healthcare administrators can make a difference in healthcare by simply understanding thoroughly the settings being served and making sure that doctors and other employees are equipped with the tools needed to be successful. Additionally, administrators can incite change by motivating employees to perform at top quality by offering incentives for compliance and exceptional performance. People work more efficiently if the environment of the workplace is one that is appealing and that is operated justly. Hebrews 13:17 (NIV) says, “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” Specifically, for the healthcare setting, a transformational leadership approach is appropriate to yield success. Leaders that use this type of leadership support staff at all levels to engage and support moving toward addressing the social determinants of health. Staff competency and capacity around these types of issues should be built in order to be effective. In the state that the healthcare system is in today, it supports the detrimental effects of poor health. Leaders should combat this by understanding the root of why poor health conditions are prevalent, and develop a plan along with employees to remedy these unfortunate circumstances (Blackburn, 2018).

A person does not have to have an official leadership title to be in leadership. A leader can be an individual who shows interest in other individuals well-being and ideas and helps guide them to their accomplishment. “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too” (Philippians 2:4 New Living Translation). God does not want His children to be about self. What could the world gain if everyone is for themselves? However, God does want His children to show interest in other individuals.

In healthcare, a visionary leader can utilize their knowledge to make a difference in various health care delivery settings. One way, their knowledge can be utilized is by always being educated on the latest updates and changes within healthcare. Secondly, a visionary leader can utilize their knowledge is in their community with primary care. “Primary care point of entry into the health services system in which health care delivery is organized around primary care. Primary care is the first contact a patient makes with the health care delivery system” (Outpatient and Primary Care Services, 2015). A visionary leader can provide resources in their community to individuals regarding the importance of primary care and why should a person seek primary care for their health and wellness.
