identify the community for treasure hunt
First, define your community:
A community is comprised of a shared identity by a population. The shared identity is usually comprised of ethnicity, race, nationality, or religious affiliation. It can also be defined by geographic location or proximity to a prominent land mark (i.e. “near downtownâ€). You must identify and describe the community (for example, its name and geographic location) and explain how the community fits into the above definition. (Because you will be gathering demographic information about your community, you may want to define boundaries of your community either by city limits or one of more specific zip codes.)
This assignment should be completed in a coherent discussion using paragraphs rather than a Q and A format
(500 words)
For this discussion, identify the community or neighborhood you will explore for the treasure hunt by addressing the following:
-What is the name and location of the community?
-Does this community meet the criteria for completing the assignment?
-Why is this area interesting to you?
-What initial demographic data have you identified that will help you understand your community?
**(Review the PowerPoint slides on obtaining community demographic information to help you with this portion of the assignment. Note that you don’t have to include extensive demographic information in this posting, though it would be good to include at least an ethnic breakdown of your treasure hunt community on Latinos/Hispanics.)**
When and how will you access the community and its residents and agencies?
Do you have a plan for doing so? What is it?
Do you have any thoughts or advice for your classmates regarding their plan?
Since I live in a small city (Brownsville, Texas) they don’t have many services available to children and families in need. I’m going to be doing it on “Rio Grande Valley†this includes my city and others such as :
-Harlingen
-McAllen
-Edinburg
-Pharr
-Mission
