See QuickTime page open. Click on: ‘QuickTime Free Download,’ [May need to choose between Windows Vista or Windows 7 on Macintosh download]. > Click on: Free ‘Download Now.’ > Click on: ‘Run.’ > Click on: ‘Run’ again. > See: Windows Installer Box: ‘Welcome…’ > Click on: ‘Next.’ > See: agreement box, click on ‘yes.’ See install box (click on ‘install’ if needed.); then wait while Quick Time is installed. [May get a file box that says ‘file in use,’ if so, close your Canvas course website if it is open; then click ‘Retry.’] When QuickTime has completed installation, click on ‘Finish’ button. Then start viewing political ads.

Look at the PDF file ‘Political Ads Overview’ (under the ‘Political Ads Analysis Discussion Topic Exercise’ heading) on Module Week-8 content course page which gives a synopsis of the political ads linked on the content page; then choose a political ad (i.e., ‘Eisenhower, ‘Daisy’) to view and analyze which is on the Module Week-8 content course page. Be patient for movie to open, depending on the speed of your PC. Make sure volume is up on your computer.

The questions below are only to help aid you towards critical thinking when viewing political ad(s): -Is the ad about an issue; for an issue or against an issue? Is the ad about a candidate? -Is it an attack ad? What is the scope of the ad; what information is the ad trying to get you to believe or know about or believe in? Does the music or actors used in ad stir any emotions? -How and does the information given in the ad change your opinion of the issue or the candidate?
