1) Week Two Assignment

Do a bit of research on-line. Find a criminal case that involved Digital Forensics.

Using WORD, write an ORIGINAL brief essay of 300 words or more describing the case and the how digital forensics were used  in the investigation.

2) Week Three Assignment

Do a bit of research on the hearsay rule in legal proceedings. In your own words, explain the hearsay rule and describe how it relates to the concept of an expert witness.

Write a short paper, 200-300 words, using WORD and submit here.

3) Week Four Discussion

Using the Web or other resources, find a case where an illegal search was claimed.

Write a brief essay describing that case and how it relates to this week’s topic.

Read and respond to at least two other students Discussions.

Post your initial response by the end of day on Thursday and reply to at least two other students by the end of day on Sunday.

Post between 200 and 300 words.

4) Week Five Assignment

Go  to the website: https://epic.org/privacy/litigation/ which focuses on civil rights issues and privacy. Pick a case.

Using WORD, in you OWN WORDS, write an ORIGINAL brief essay of 300 words or more  :

Summarize the case

Give your opinion of the decision.

Describe how the case deals with the material in this chapter

5) Week Six Assignment

Describe the plain view doctrine, and why  it has such a significant impact on digital forensics? What are three approaches to determining whether the doctrine applies to a specific case.

Use your own words and do not copy  the work of another student.

6) Week Seven Discussion

You have been assigned to investigate whether or not an employee at a local hospital has been accessing patient records and setting information to online pharmacies. It is your first day of the investigation. Put together a list of data sources that must be examined during the investigation.

7) Week Eight Assignment

Go online and research some tools that would be valuable in collecting both live memory images and images of various forms off media. Put together a shopping list for your manager that includes tools needed  to be purchased. Include a price if applicable.

8) Week Nine Assignment

Use the web or other resources to research at least two criminal or civil cases in which  recovered files played a significant role in how the case was resolved.

9) Week Ten Discussion

Define several forms of metadata that can be useful to an investigation. How are valuable to an investigator?

10) Week Eleven Assignment

Using Chapter 10 as a reference, eExplain the concept of information stores. Why is an understanding of how different clients store messaging information critical to the success of an email search?

11) Submit Final Project Topic

12) Week Twelve Assignment

Explain how cookies can show that a user has visited a site if that user’s history has been deleted.
