Research a new (to you) technology and how it is currently being used in training. Demonstrate how that tool could be used practically in the training classroom. Need some ideas? Here are a few – QR codes, geocaching, social media, edmodo.com, iPads, interactive whiteboards, “Bring Your Own Device” – BYOD, digital storytelling, video games, blogging, 1:1 classroom, “Flipped” classroom, clickers or real-time polling sites (such as polleverywhere.com), digital concept mapping (such as Inspiration software), assistive technologies.
THE TECHNOLOGY I PICKED IS SOCIAL MEDIA
Submit two items –
- A 3 page paper (double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, reference page not included in the page count, a minimum of five reputable sources)
a. The paper discusses the technology, how it is being used in training, and the pedagogical value it brings to professional teaching and learning (ex: increases motivation, supports kinesthetic learners, develops a more engaging classroom environment, etc.)
A demonstration (that you create) of at least one way this technology being used to promote teaching and learning in a meaningful way. Your demonstration could be a video clip, screencast, powerpoint presentation, etc.; you are encouraged to be creative in your presentation and present in a way that sells your idea so others will want to try it out.
