There are many perspectives on how creativity originates, however an individual perspective will generate how the creative process occurs in that particular person. The steps in the decision-making process are to find and define the problem, generate and evaluate alternatives, decide on the preferred course of action, implement the decision, and evaluate the results (Uhl-Bien, Osborn, & Schermherhorn, 2014 p.190). According to Basadur, Beuk & Monllor (2010),”the creative process occurs in four stages: generation, which involves discovering new problems, opportunities, and projects; conceptualization, which involves developing alternate ways to understand problems and opportunities; optimization, which involves appraisal and evaluation to determine the best way forward; and implementation, which is the execution of plans (p.2). Later on a fifth stage of intimation was added, which is described as an association or other way of making the creativity known (Botella, Zenasni, & Lubart, 2018). Creativity often requires the freedom to express new methods of evaluating a problem. As Uhl-Bien, Osborn, & Schermherhorn, (2014) explain, “Creativity happens in part because people work exceptionally hard to resolve a problem or exploit an opportunity” (p.205). Continuing to build from previous concepts is one way that normal production becomes great. Brainstorming is another method in group creativity that will generate original and unique production or responses to problems. These thoughts and new methods of generating production based on creativity continue to show why they are essential to organizations.Basadur, T., Beuk, F., & Monllor, J. (2010).
