Q1. What aspects of Field of Dreams connect to ideas we have encountered before? Select at lest two ideas we have covered previously in this class (such as scapegoat, archetype, heor’s journey, characteristics of a tragic hero, cinematic techniques, sports as a reflection of culture, etc.) and be sure to clearly explain the connection. Choose something beyond the connection to Shoeless Joe, which will not be considered to be an adequate response. As we prepare for the final exam, it’s important to note that there will be a question dealing with this film. Let’s help each other brainstorm in order to understand this film through the ideas of this course.

This week we are engaged in looking at both past and present – and in this thread, I am asking you to think about the contemporary artist Marina Abramovic – she is one of the most well known performance artists and I will share a few of her performances here. Some students will really appreciate her take on art history issues such as the portrait, the human body, etc – while others are bored, or unimpressed. First, we see her most famous production at the Museum of Modern Art in New York: How does this performance re-imagine the concept of the portrait?
