A researcher randomly assigns 33 subjects to one of three groups. Group 1 receives technical dietary information interactively from an on-line website. Group 2 receives the same information from a nurse practitioner, while Group 3 receives the information from a video tape made by the same nurse practitioner.

The researcher looked at three different ratings of the presentation; difficulty, usefulness, and importance to determine if there is a difference in the modes of presentation. In particular, the researcher is interested in whether the interactive website is superior because that is the most cost-effective way of delivering the information…

  • From the case in Chapter 8, assume that John Shurtman has hired you as his human resource consultant. Analyze the objectives for the new sales representative at United Fleet Service (UFS) and determine whether or not John’s decision to hire a new sales consultant would significantly benefit the business at this time. Provide support for your response.
  • Determine three (3) factors you would consider in developing a compensation plan for the new sales representative that will provide enough incentive to both secure new sales and develop relationships with current customers. Justify your response.

Researching the media response to the murder and torture of Emmett Till and how the public subsequently responded. Use these sources to support findings. Feel free to use other sources as well. Primary docs only, use newspaper, 3 pictures max.

Don’t add pictures to the total page count. There should be 12 pages of TEXT.

This marketing cannibalization problem is basic to marketing analysis. It should be clear to you by now that marketing managers have to make decisions based on being able to quantify profitability. This is a simple scenario (in that there are very few extraneous facts or numbers), and, given the information, you should be able to calculate the brand line’s profitability before any new line introduction and after introducing a new product to the line. By comparing the two results, you should be able to answer whether or not the new product model should be introduced into the line.

Show your calculations that indicate the comparative profit contributions with and without the introduction of the new product. BE SURE TO SUBMIT IT IN A WORD PROCESSED (OR SPREADSHEET) DOCUMENT. It must be easy for me to follow your logic, and it must have a professional appearance. No hand-written submissions will be accepted.
It should not take you very long to do this problem. It is simply a matter of extracting the pertinent facts and numbers in order to do the calculation. A key to doing this problem is to organize your analysis in a logical order. First, organize the pertinent facts from the scenario presented. Then, determine what the total profit contribution is for the two original models in the line prior to the addition of the new model in the line. You will need to know each model’s unit contribution to profit and their forecast sales volume. Next, determine the new unit volumes of the older models due to cannibalization from the new model entering the line. Once you have all three models’ unit volume sales, it is a simple matter of multiplying each by their unit contribution to profit in order to get the dollar profit contribution for each product within the brand line. Then, it is a simple matter of totaling the profit contributions after cannibalization and comparing it to the total profit contribution before cannibalization.

Conclusion

Find a business who would like your help! This may be the company that you work for or a company where you know a senior manager. Offer to conduct a Supply Chain Management process assessment! The process is shown on Figure 13-3 below – your responsibility will be to get through the Gap Analysis with recommendations for improvements (note – there will not be time in this course to actually implement your recommendations nor validate their successes!).

Your report will consist of:

1- All the materials you provided to the company,

2- All of the resulting assessments (should the sponsor allow confidential viewing by your instructor, or a summary of the results, or a signed memo from your sponsor stating what you accomplished),

3- A statement from your sponsor stating his/her impressions of your efforts, and

4- A formal report:

      1. Executive Summary (in lieu of Abstract)
      2. Introduction of your project, company and SCM process (1-2 pages)
      3. Summary of your actions with the client (minimum 1 page) – NOT applicable for Option #2 (simulated data)
      4. Your analysis to include Prioritized assessment results (minimum 2 pages with tables/charts)
      5. Recommendations to the company with supporting details (minimum 2 pages)
      6. Lessons that you learned through the project
      7. Conclusion (summary of key findings for action)
      8. References

Documenting your project

Reports must be in 12-point font, double spaced, and APA guidelines should be strictly followed, with the exceptions of NO Table of Contents and writing an Executive Summary (in lieu of Abstract). Project work will be graded on a number of criteria, including: conformance to prescribed content and format, grammar, readability, and the use of technical notations and diagrams. See rubric for details of assessment.

Presentation of your project

The presentation should sell the recommendations of your project.

This individual presentation is to consist of 7 main slides (one for each step in Figure 13-3) — with speaking notes on each slide. A cover slide, overview slide, “define Supply Chain Management” slide, “define your process” and references slides are required (not included in the required main slide count).

This presentation format is designed for a 15-minute time slot to your CEO and Board of Directors, so plan accordingly (e.g. 10 minutes of presentation plus 5 minutes of Q&A — that’s only about 1 minute per slide!).

Submit a single PowerPoint presentation (or similar format) that includes

Final project — Elevator Pitch!

Have you ever got on an elevator and the CEO gets on too? You then have a “captive” audience only for the time until you reach the top floor! Let’s say 60 seconds!!! Therefore, you must also submit a 60-second video of summarizing your entire project! (Your instructor will stop watching at exactly 60 seconds, and score you based only on what was watched.) You may record using Collaborate, Kultura or any other method.

Please write one or more paragraphs, explaining what topic you would like to use for the essay 1 assignment. Please explain how you think it will fit the requirements laid out in the Essay 1 Prompt Instructions. You can choose to use any argument article from either a chapter we will read AFTER essay 1 is due, OR from an outside source. It can also be from a chapter in our book that isn’t assigned to read. For it to work for the assignment is has to make an argument.

According to Creswell (2009), quantitative research is a “means for testing objective theories by examining the relationship among variables that can be measured and analyzed using statistical procedures.” Qualitative research, Creswell posits, is a “means for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe to social or human problems.”

Consider the phenomenon of pain. Ethics committees and institutional review boards do not allow researchers to inflict equal doses of pain on subjects to examine their physiological response. In quantitative research, pain can be measured physiologically by blood pressure, changes in blood chemistry, muscle contractions, and pain scales (which are still subjective, but at least quantifiable). Researchers using a qualitative perspective may ask participants about their experience of being in physical pain, whether being in pain has changed them in any way, or what they have learned from experiencing physical pain.

For this Assignment, consider differences in how you might frame a research question in order to explore it using quantitative or qualitative research methods.

By Day 7

Submit a 2-page paper that highlights one of the research questions you shared in your Discussion post. Design a quantitative research question related to this problem and a qualitative research question related to the same problem. Please use the resources to support your answer.
