The sentencing of juvenile offenders has been an ongoing debate, especially when juvenile offenders commit serious crimes such as homicide or rape. In the case of Miller v. Alabama (2012), the U.S. Supreme Court decided that life sentences for juveniles was unconstitutional because it was a violation of the 8th Amendment, which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. You can read more about the case here.( see attached)

In this assignment, you will take on the role of Utilization Review (UR) Coordinator at Rasmussen Hospital who is preparing for a Utilization Review Meeting.

Part 1 – Utilization Review Worksheet

As the UR Coordinator, part of your weekly duties includes determining whether or not patients need to stay a little longer in the hospital. This week you have 3 patients to evaluate.

Download the Utilization Review Worksheet, study the case for each of the 3 patients, and use the Continued Stay Criteria within the document to determine whether or not the patient should be discharged. Once you have complete the Utilization Review Form within the document, save and submit your completed worksheet.

Part 2 – Meeting Agenda

Now that you have determined the discharge status of each patient, you need to call a meeting with the CEO, Chief Medical Officer, the patients’ doctors, and the Director of Nursing to inform them of the plans. However, you also need to discuss a few more topics during the meeting: the number of discharges planned for the next week, the lack of physician documentation, Utilization Review statistics from the previous month, and coverage for your 2 week vacation.

In a separate document, prepare an agenda reflecting the 3 patients’ statuses and the topics stated above. A quick Internet search on agenda writing may be helpful to complete this task.

As you probably know, the laws relating to trade secrets include a requirement that the trade secret be protected from the time it is initially developed until it is no longer to be considered a trade secret. It doesn’t matter what form the information is in. It could be hard copy – perhaps a letter or specification that can be handed to someone. It could be stored in a computer’s memory. It all has to be protected.

In this week’s paper, I’d like you to think about the challenge that trade secrets pose in the development and operation of an ISMS. Should they be a separate category of information? How can we be sure that our ISMS protects trade secrets in every form? How do we need to deal with employees, contractors, vendors, business partners/associates with whom we must share trade secrets?

Instructions

  1. Put your thoughts on how trade secret protection fits into the concept of an ISMS. Your paper should spend no more than 100 words on background (what an ISMS is) and focus on the ISMS and trade secrets issues.
  2. Your paper should have a main text (not counting title pages and references list) of 800-1000 words. Going beyond 1,000 words is not recommended and probably means that you need to re-think your scope and tighten your presentation. Going below 800 probably means that you need more exposition or detail.
  3. Please submit as either a Microsoft Word or .pdf file. Please submit in 11-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced. 1-inch margins on top, bottom, left and right. Running heads are the class name (left), page number (center) and your first initial and last name (right).
  4. Grammar and spelling count. PLEASE proofread carefully. I would suggest reading it aloud as the fastest way of identifying run-on sentences or wording that doesn’t make sense. If you can’t read it without getting confused, you can be pretty sure that I can’t read it without also getting confused!
  5. It is expected that you will cite references in your submissions including this one. Footnotes or endnotes are equally acceptable. APA format is required. It is also expected that you will not limit your references to the textbook and readings in your assignment, but that you will do research to find additional sources that support your arguments in your paper.

write 1 page repose, and pointing to specific concept, key ideas, and pages, and rasing questions that you would like to discuss in class. (single space)

Write a 3–5 minutes draft for class presentation.

Here are some of the rules for presenting the Tech Talk to the class:

Tech Talk presentations must be based on current information.

The Tech Talk must relate to multimedia journalism news. This is not the place to talk about your favorite game, phone or iPad app/updates, family social media events or gaming platforms.

Be prepared and professional.

You are graded on the newsworthiness of your topic, how well it relates to multimedia journalism and/or communication and your presentation (delivery) skills in presenting this information to the class.

Points will be deducted if your presentation runs too short (under three minutes) and or if your presentations runs too long (more than five minutes), has no application to valuable technology news, is about a “stale” topic or if your Tech Talk is poorly presented to the class.

Here are some Web sites that may provide you with a Tech Talk idea:

Google News (Click on the TECHNOLOGY news section) (Links to an external site.)

C-Net News (Links to an external site.)

CNN Technology News (Links to an external site.)

New York Times Technology News (Links to an external site.)

Wired (Links to an external site.)

Please do not write facts check APP.

Use the following scenario. Review the scenario first and then continue on with your assignment. Consider saving the PDF or printing it out for your reference.

You have been meeting with the CEO, the project sponsor, your manager, and the heads of all the other departments to discuss the project and their expectations. You are starting to be concerned about the level of risk of this project and whether or not the organization really understands it. As far as you can tell, the company has never done formal risk management, taking a more relaxed approach to risks. You are starting to develop your risk management plan; you will present it to your manager and the sponsor in two weeks along with some other project planning deliverables.

Assignment Guidelines:

  • Create a project charter and identify the key constraints of the project (scope, budget, timeline, quality, people resources, etc.).
  • Using the scenario from this unit, create a spreadsheet that lists all the project risks you see based on what you currently know about the project. List at least 15 risks. For each project risk, provide a:
    • Detailed description
    • Category (schedule, strategy, people, etc.)

Note: This list will be used in later activities throughout the course.

Your submitted assignment (250 points) must include the following:

  • A 2-4 page typed document that includes:
    • A project charter and identification of key constraints
    • At least 15 risks listed in a spreadsheet with a detailed description and the category of each

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS 1-5…THE EXCEL SPREADSHEET IS ATTACHED

  1. A. In the Questions 1-2 tab of Discussion Board Forum 1/Project 2.xls, use Question 1A to create a set of 5 points that are very close together and record the standard deviation. Next, add a sixth point that is far away from the original 5 and record the new standard deviation.

What is the impact of the new point on the standard deviation? Do not just give a numerical value for the change. Explain in sentence form what happened to the standard deviation.
(4 points)

B. In the Questions 1-2 tab of Discussion Board Forum 1/Project 2.xls, use Question 1B to create a data set with 8 points in it that has a mean of approximately 10 and a standard deviation of approximately 1. Use the second chart of Question 1B to create a second data set with 8 points that has a mean of approximately 10 and a standard deviation of approximately 4. What did you do differently to create the data set with the larger standard deviation? (4 points)

  1. In the Questions 1-2 tab of Discussion Board Forum 1/Project 2.xls, use Question 2 to enter values matching the following data set. (8 points)

50, 50, 50, 50, 50.

Notice that the standard deviation is 0. Explain why the standard deviation for this one is zero. Do not show the calculation. Explain in words why the standard deviation is zero when all of the points are the same. If you don’t know why, try doing the calculation by hand to see what is happening. If that does not make it clear, try doing a little research on standard deviation and see what it is measuring and then look again at the data set for this question.

  1. In the Question 3 tab of Discussion Board Forum 1/Project 2.xls, use Question 3 to enter each of the three data sets. Record what the standard deviation is for each data set and answer the questions below.

Data set 1:0, 0, 0, 100, 100, 100

Data set 2:0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100

Data set 3:0, 40, 45, 55, 60, 100

Note that all three data sets have a median of 50. Notice how spread out the points are in each data set and compare this to the standard deviations for the data sets. Describe the relationship you see between the amount of spread and the size of the standard deviation and explain why this connection exists. Do not give your calculations in your answer—explain in sentence form. (8 points)

For the last 2 questions, use the Question 4-5 (Project 1 Data) tab of Discussion Board Forum 1/Project 2.xls to review the data from Project 1.

  1. Explain what an outlier is. Then, if there are any outliers in the Project 1 Data Set, what are they? For each state, give both the name and the temperature. If there are no outliers, say no outliers.
    (4 points)
  2. Which 4 states have temperatures that look to be the most questionable or the most unrealistic to you? Explain why you selected these 4 states. For each state, give both the name and the temperature. (4 points)
