Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

It is estimated that more than 6% of the U.S. population will experience posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in their lifetime (National Center for PTSD, 2010). This debilitating disorder often interferes with an individual’s ability to function in daily life. Common symptoms of anxiousness and depression frequently lead to substance abuse issues and even physical ailments. For this Discussion, as you examine the Thompson Family Case Study in this week’s Learning Resources, consider how you might assess and treat clients presenting with PTSD.

  • Assess clients presenting with posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Analyze therapeutic approaches for treating clients presenting with posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Evaluate outcomes for clients with posttraumatic stress disorder

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and reflect on the insights they provide.
  • View the media Academic Year in Residence: Thompson Family Case Study, and assess the client in the case study.
  • For guidance on assessing the client, refer to pages 137–142 of the Wheeler text in this week’s Learning Resources.

Note: To complete this Discussion, you must assess the client, but you are not required to submit a formal Comprehensive Client Assessment.

Post an explanation of your observations of the client William in Thompson Family Case Study, including behaviors that align to the PTSD criteria in DSM-5. Then, explain therapeutic approaches you might use with this client, including psychotropic medications if appropriate. Finally, explain expected outcomes for the client based on these therapeutic approaches. Support your approach with 3or more current evidence-based literature.

Explain why you suggest this alternative and support your suggestion with evidence-based literature and/or your own experiences with clients.

You will be responding to two different business cases related to social media type correspondence. Both cases will have different criteria that you’ll need to respond to. You must complete both and save them in the same document. What are the business cases? The cases are as follows:

Product Announcement

Write a blog announcing the release of a product for a company, such as a new sports equipment item. You choose the product (which can be anything you want, but assume it is new). Start with an attention-grabbing headline. Summarize the announcement in the first sentence. Describe the rest of the important details (consider all 5W2H questions) in logical sequence. Conclude with your contact information and invite inquiries. In addition to the blog post, create a microblog announcement that would link to your post. Apply the principles you learned in chapters 2–4 and 6 of Writing and Speaking for Business.

Criteria

For this case you don’t need to create an actual blog. Instead, just pretend that a Word document is your blog. At the bottom of your blog create a pseudo microblog entry as well. Follow all of the instructions in the preceding paragraph. It shouldn’t be longer than a page. It would benefit from headings and graphics.

Rehab Center Review

Your grandfather has been a patient in CareMore, a local rehabilitation center, for the past six weeks. Finally, his health and mobility have improved to the point that he has been released to return home. During his six-week stay at CareMore, you have visited him often both to provide comfort and encouragement and to make sure he has been taken care of appropriately. You have felt generally good about the quality of the medical care he has been given, and the quality of the food he has been served (although a few times the food was a bit cold when it arrived). One recurring problem that you have noticed has been with CareMore’s laundry service. On several occasions the turnaround time on your grandfather’s laundry has been terribly slow (seven or eight days), and twice a shirt was lost and never returned, in spite of your repeated requests. The physical therapy has been good, and you have been noticed steady progress in your grandfather’s mobility throughout his stay. Write an appropriate review to post to CareMore’s social media site. Give the facility four stars out of five for its overall quality of care. Apply the principles you learned in chapters 2–4 and 6 of Writing and Speaking for Business.

Criteria

Like the previous example, just pretend your Word document is the social media site. Follow all of the instructions in the preceding paragraph. It shouldn’t be longer than a page.

a. Identify major elements found across religious traditions, b. Identify the sacramental, prophetic, and mystical orientations within religions, c. Use basic vocabulary to discuss major elements of religion, d. Explore the impact of global religious issues, e. Discuss various ways religions promote social justice and ethical values, f. Relate to diversity while maintaining personal identity, g. Explore reasons for tolerance between people with different faiths.

The lesson deals with how our text discussed the initiation ceremonies or rites of passage that are so important to many tribal religions. What rites of passage, both religious and secular, do you notice that our society observes or celebrates today? 200 words (with Molloy quote Chapter 2)

All require is inclued in those files. Write the lab report that meets all requirements. It is full lab report.

The research firm LL Research collected data from 200 client businesses. They want to determine how the businesses compare among four variables:

2015 Profit in millions of dollars
2016 Profit in millions of dollars
2015-2016 Two-Year Change in Daily Average Customer Visits

Two-Year Average Number of Employees

Data collected for the sample of 200 businesses is contained in the file named Businesses, linked at the bottom of the page. Be sure to use all 200 data points.

Managerial Report
Prepare a report (see below) using the numerical methods of descriptive statistics presented in this module to learn how each of the variables contributes to the success of a client’s business. Be sure to include the following three items in your report.

  1. Compute descriptive sample statistics (mean, median, two quartiles Q1 and Q3 (using QUARTILE.EXC), minimum, maximum, range, interquartile range, sample standard deviation, and coefficient of variation) for each of the four variables along with an explanation of what the descriptive statistics tell us about the client businesses.
  • In this case, which measure of central tendency would be best for this application? Explain why.
  • Which measure of variation would be best for this application? Explain why.
  • How can one use the above descriptive statistics to understand the businesses better?
  • Which graphical displays of data would you use to help understand or complement the above descriptive statistics? Explain how and why.

Note: QUARTILE.EXC works only for Excel 2010 or newer.

  1. Compute the percent change in profit from 2015 to 2016 for each business.
  • What would the percent change tell us in this application?
  • Then use the z-score to determine which businesses were outliers with respect to percent change in profit.
  • How would identifying outliers be useful in this application?
  • What advice might you give to businesses that are outliers?
  • How else would you determine outliers?
  1. Compute the sample correlation coefficient, showing the relationship between percent change in profit and each of the other two variables (2015-2016 Two-Year Change in Daily Average Customer Visits and Two-Year Average Number of Employees).
  • Explain what the correlation coefficients tell us about the three pairs of relationships. Use tables, charts, or graphs to support your conclusions.

APA format- you should have in-text citations and a reference page.

Submit your Excel file in addition to your report.

Requirements:

  1. The paper must be written in third person.
  2. Your paper should be four to five pages in length (counting the title page and references page) and cite and integrate at least one credible outside source.
  3. Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and a reference page.
  4. The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem. It might discuss the importance of the topic or how it affects you or society as a whole, or it might discuss or describe the unique terminology associated with the topic.
  5. The body of your paper should answer the questions posed in the problem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solved the problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be sure the Word document is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homework assignment.
  6. The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you have determined from the data and your analysis, often with a broader personal or societal perspective in mind. Nothing new should be introduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs. Your conclusion should emanate (be aligned with) your findings.
  7. Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values, and/or graphs associated with this problem in the body of your assignments

Research is connected and personal and it is important for learners to recognize their subject position, in order to critically evaluate data, as well as communicate their subject position within a research study to minimize bias. Grand Canyon University supports academic and spiritual growth with the belief that the combination of the two will make a positive impact on scholarship and the individual.

How might worldview influence the role as a scholar and researcher? How can a worldview, Christian or otherwise, enrich research through a union of faith and academics? How might one handle perspectives, topics, and research that may challenge his or her worldview? 250-300 words. 3-4 references.

Imagine that you have conducted a two-sample test and determined that the difference was not statistically significant. While one mean was 4.3 and the other was 3.9, the p level for the t test was p=.07. Your management team says, “Well, the difference may not be statistically significant, but the difference is there! Discuss how you would respond and how you would explain the purpose of the t test and significance in this case.

Need an response in 150-175 words.

The First Amendment

There are three parts to this assignment.

Part One

The First Amendment actually says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Our Founding Fathers were very familiar with the writings of John Locke, and the need to keep government and religions separate was just as important to them as guaranteeing the toleration of different religious beliefs.

• What were Locke’s three primary reasons for keeping government and religion separate? Which one of those reasons do you think is the most applicable today, and why?

Part Two

Many people misread the First Amendment and think it is advocating “freedom from religion” rather than “freedom of religion.” They use this misreading to ban symbols of religion from public places.

• From what you know about Locke, explain whether or not you think that Locke’s view of religious toleration would require the removal of religious symbols from the public view. Be sure to provide evidence for your position that is based on logical reasoning rather than emotional reactions. Feel free to quote from the textbook to support what you believe would be Locke’s position concerning the government prohibiting the display of religious symbols.

• Also, based on what Locke has said, do you think there ever could be times that it would be legitimate for the government to suppress a religion or some of their beliefs because of that religion’s extreme practices—even if what they are doing is not breaking the law? Why or why not?

Part Three

Regardless of how you answered the second question, Mill (a father of Liberalism) insists that progress and happiness (for both the individual and society) is only possible when each person is able to express himself openly and fully about the things important to him. The criticism of this liberal view is that left to our own devises, the diversity in our pursuits of individual goals and interests will lead to disputes, and, thus, rules and regulations are needed to allow individuals to develop their goals within a more structured society and so they can learn their social obligations to the community as a whole. The problem with liberalism, the critics say, is that by making our ability to choose for ourselves the highest objective, we may embrace the notion of diversity, but we are no longer interested in tolerating differences or even in considering how to integrate the diversity of ideas into a cohesive society made up of individuals. Ultimately, then, following this line of thought, the toleration of a diversity of religions  leads to a disunity within the community and a disinterest in social responsibility.

• If the above conclusions about liberalism are true, would restricting religious diversity to five or six major religions in the United States still give people a choice in how they worship but also eliminate some of the religious divisiveness which separates people (whether through stereotyping or other forms of prejudice) and prevents the citizenry as a whole from viewing itself as a single nation in which we all cooperate and work together for the common good? In other words, is all of this religious toleration actually dividing us even further rather than uniting us as a society? Be sure to explain your thinking with examples and detailed reasons.

Instructions for your paper

The paper should follow APA formatting and rely on only your own ideas and those from the textbook. Please make sure that it is at least 600 words and no more than 900 words.
