As you read over chapter 3, we were presented with concepts, research, and trends regarding gender: roles, behaviors and expectations and how those are drastically changing and quickly…Take a moment to reflect on your views related to gender roles.

You will need to choose and review three of the resources provided below in addition to Chapter 3 from our text:

  1. https://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/08/us/wall-street-…
  2. CHOOSE ONLY ONE of the CBS articles: A)https://www.cbsnews.com/news/as-gender-roles-change-are-men-out-of-step/OR B) https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-future-of-men-jac…Links to an external site.

  3. Time are Changing (you are not expected to read it all but please review it as best as you can–the information is amazing to consider) Please note: this is the only available study of its kind but new studies are coming and being done).

WHAT YOUR PAPER SHOULD ADDRESS:

After watching and reviewing three of these resources and chapter 3 in our text, please consider and address these questions by reflecting and sharing your perspective and experiences/observations as applicable:

  • Based on what you read and watched from your chosen articles and the chapter, what changes are taking place concerning gender roles? What stood out to you regarding the resources and the information and trends they presented? Be sure to address/discuss ALL the resources you chose (not just one point from each) to support the changes taking place and your perspective regarding them; so you should have a total of 4 sources discussed and referenced in your paper.
  • From our reading of chapter 3 and the resources you reviewed, what do you consider to be one of as the greatest factor(s) driving the changes in gender roles in America? Remember to use the resources to support and explain your conclusions.
  • How do you and your family dynamics concerning gender roles (e.g., how they were modeled and/or taught) relate to any of the findings from the resources?
  • What kind of influence (i.e. positive, negative, or neutral) do you see these changes discussed in chapter 3 and the articles having on the American Family?
  • What other changes, if any, based on what you learned from the chapter and resources would you like to see regarding gender roles in America and for your own future?

You will need to submit your assignment as an attachment below. Please be sure you have followed the instructions concerning reflecting over gender roles in America; as well as meet the expectations for written work (see below as well as the syllabus).

Your paper must NOT be in “Question and Answer” form but should be written in essay form and be presented as a cohesive body of work that flows and all points being connected with one another.

Please refer to the grading rubric provided below. I have found that it takes students approx. 3-4 pages to complete these reflect and react assignments though it varies by student. As long as your work satisfies the criteria, length is not an issue.

BE SURE TO INCLUDE A REFERENCE PAGE AT THE END AND CITATIONS IN APA FORMATTING (see Module 0 for formatting rules).

Here is the Grading Rubric and Student Feedback form I will be using when grading your work based on the rubric for this assignment:

Instructions

For this assessment, start to narrow down some of your ideas about your action research study, and think about how you will carry out the proposed research. Address the following items in a 3–5 page scholarly paper that includes a minimum of 4 citations and is in APA format:

  • Restate your topic with an introduction, including the purpose of the study (from Assessment 1).
  • Outline the research questions being asked; be thoughtful of whether these are qualitative or quantitative and how they directly tie to your study purpose.
  • Describe your population and the chosen sample and sampling approach. Who you will be collaborating with?
  • Discuss the instruments/assessment tools you will use to collect data and how will they be shown to be valid and reliable.
  • Discuss some alternative ways of capturing this information. Include at least one other method than those you have planned that you could use to gather the same information. This could either be through a qualitative interview instead of a survey (or vice versa) or different instruments. Justify your chosen approach using citation support and comparison of other methods.
  • Describe how technology will be integrated to enhance the research. Will you use technology via the application and/or the assessment and potential outcomes?
  • Describe the role diversity plays in the problem and how your research and intended changes will improve learning for diverse student populations.
  • Determine the known risks or unintended consequences of the study. How can you be sure to address ethical considerations and protect your sample from any harm?
  • And finally, looking at the purpose of the study, think about what your desired change is. What is your vision of how the situation should look after you implement your changes?

Resources: Planning Your Research Project

The following two articles provide examples of using technology in action research projects. In your own action research project consider the role of technology. Will you use technology via the application and/or the assessment and potential outcomes?

The goal of this paper is to understand how the brain and memory processes are intertwined and how certain techniques can improve these processes. In an essay of 1,000-1,250 words, discuss how memories are formed and maintained in the brain through the actions of neural circuitry. Use at least four scholarly resources to address the following questions:

  1. Theoretically, how is working memory similar to and different from long-term memory?
  2. How are memories formed in the brain (using neural circuitry), and how are they maintained?
  3. When is it adaptive to remember, and in what ways may it be adaptive to forget?
  4. Given what we know about brain mechanisms in memory, are our memories accurate? Explain your answer using information on how memories are stored in the brain.
  5. How can knowledge of the brain and memory systems be used to help individuals suffering from memory problems (e.g., poor memory, amnesia, PTSD)?
  6. Compare the role age and environment play in how memories are formed and maintained.

Part 1

Teamwork

Groups and group behavior are common in today’s business world. Teams often are able to accomplish a lot more than individuals working alone. However, there are often issues that result when teams and groups are involved. For example, if one person is doing everything, while others are simply sitting back, animosity and resentment can build and can damage the healthy functioning of the team. This is called social loafing.

  • Describe the different types of groups or teams that are commonly seen in the modern day workplace.
  • Describe social loafing, and provide a hypothetical team scenario to illustrate it.
  • Describe the factors that you would need to assess to address this problem more effectively (e.g., group norms, status, diversity, cohesiveness, the stage of the groups development, and group size).
  • Describe an appropriate intervention to reduce social loafing in the hypothetical scenario.

Part 2

Decision-Making in Teams

Decision making in groups or teams is a common occurrence in today’s workplace. However, the question remains as to whether or not groups make better decisions than individuals alone. In this discussion, you will look at cases where groups make decisions that are not as efficient or healthy as individuals working alone. Specifically, you will explore the issues of both groupthink and groupshift. Groupthink is defined as “a phenomenon in which the norm for consensus overrides the realistic appraisal of alternative courses of action” (p. 308), whereas groupshift is defined as “a change between a group’s decision and an individual decision that a member within the group would make; the shift can be toward either conservatism or greater risk but it generally is toward a more extreme version of the group’s original position” (p. 308). In this discussion, provide an example of a meeting where you felt that groupthink and/or groupshift was at work. What are some of the signs and symptoms of groupthink that were present in this situation? What might you do to remedy this type of dynamic if you were in charge of the meeting?

There are 2 parts to this discussion. Please use a minimum of 350 words for each part and answer them separately., Also please Include at least 2 references, one from:

Robbins, S. P., & Judge, T. A. (2019). Organizational Behavior. New York, NY:

Pearson.

Please make sure apa format is used and the total word count is 250 words. Make sure to use scholarly sources and there should be 3 or more sources. Please make sure answers are original and not from another cite there will be a plagiarism scan.

Go back and review Chapter 5 on individual behavior and discuss the traits that would be most beneficial for group membership. You will want to review Chapters 10 & 11 about groups and teams to be able to make your assessment.
